From tabula to tablet
What does it consist of?
Before the book existed, stories traveled through oral tradition, by word of mouth. We will begin a journey into the past from the beginnings of writing, stopping at some specific moments in history: Egyptian hieroglyphics and papyrus, written representations on paper in Japan or China, the library of Alexandria or writing in Rome: the tabula cerata and we will continue the journey until the invention of the printing press to end in the present day, where the most conventional books coexist with electronic devices such as e-book or tablet.
Once the journey is over, the workshop participants experience the sensation of creating writing, remembering the basis of cuneiform writing in clay, the writing in Rome with tabulae cerata and stylos or the medieval writing by means of reeds, ink and papyrus.
