Special award from the jury of the Brazilian Stop Motion Festival 2011 for six short films from OQO

'Because of their beauty and quality' the management of the Brazilian Stop Motion Festival 2011 decided to create a specific section during the festival in order to show six animated short films from OQO films: The trotting cooking pot; And what can I do?; Felix, the fear collector; The great journey; The thing that hurts most in the world and The incredible story of the birdgirl and the terrible boy.

The management decided unanimously to award each film with the Special Prize of the Jury and to create an extra event: Special showing OQO Galiciain order to present the works from OQO. The festival will take place in Recife from the 22nd to 26th of November and offers a selection of over 130 films from 14 countries.

The prizewinning films are part of the series Neverending tales and can be seen on the Galician channel TVG2 at the moment. This audio-visual project competed in the 2010 edition of the International Festival of Animated Cinema Annecy (France) for the Best Animated Series. Furthermore it was selected for the 50th edition of the International Cinema Festival for Children in Zlin (Czech Republic) and for the International Festival of Television Barcelona, organized by OETI (Observatorio Europeo da Televisión Infantil – European Observation Centre of Television Programmes for Children).

NEVERENDING TALES

They consist of 26 chapters, each with a duration of 10 minutes and are made for children between 3 and 7 years, even if the stories can actually be enjoyed by all ages. Each of them is an adaptation of a traditional or contemporary story, previously published as a picture book by OQO editora. French, Turkish, Spanish, Galician, Portuguese, Greek, Brazilian, African stories make up this series, which follows the maxim that a good story can win any child’s heart in any part of the world.

International professionals, that have made a name for themselves, contributed their abilities on every single chapter. Amongst them are the recognized Mexican animators Luis Téllez (director of the films The great journey, The thing that hurts most in the world and The incredible story of the birdgirl and the terrible boy), Karla Castañeda, (who directed Felix, the fear collector) and Juan Medina (director of The trotting cooking pot); the Argentinian Ismael Mon; the Portuguese Carlos Pinto; the prizewinner of a Goya for the best animated short film, Coke Riobóo and the Galicians Borxa Guerrero (director of the awarded And what can I do?) and Iván Prieto.

Every chapter of the Neverending tales offers creative suggestions, that include various artistic abilities, a universe of innovative plastic arts and an original music score, that had been created especially for the different short films.
